Every 11 seconds in Brazil, a baby or mother dies during childbirth

The UN released this Thursday (19), new statistics showing that a mother or baby dies every eleven seconds in the world. The data points to a drop in correlation with previous data, even in this way it is a tense thing.

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, head of WHO – World Health Organization, said that the situation is less alarming in countries where there are better health services and which are accessible to a greater number of individuals. Adhanom similarly explained that the new data reveals that the situation has been improving around the world, but there is also a lot to be accomplished.

The number of babies dying during birth has fallen significantly compared to the beginning of this century. According to the UN, most deaths occur in the first month of life. Last year, around 7 newborns lost their lives every day.

In correlation to the number of women who die due to problems related to pregnancy or pregnancy, the number similarly fell. In 2000, 451 thousand deaths were recorded and, in 2017, there were 295 thousand.

Every year around 2,8 million pregnant women and newborns die during the invention work and the saddest thing is that most of these deaths could have been avoided.
