App to check your health with a selfie
Check out today, the app to check your health through a selfie using your own cell phone.
The technology company NuraLogix developed the Anura application that can check the user's health through their selfie.
NuraLogix brought the application with the promise of taking a single selfie scan, using a more complex test that is based on artificial intelligence.
It lets the user know what their blood pressure is like and whether they are at risk of diabetes through a 30-second scan of the selfie.
See the benefits of the app:
- Anura can check the user's health through their selfie;
- The app can be used on any device that contains a selfie camera;
- It uses artificial intelligence that received training from data collected from more than 40 thousand people who have various medical conditions;
- The report generated by the application provides health risk assessments on chronic conditions that the user has;
- The app should not be used to diagnose illnesses, but seeks to alert users to seek medical help;
- The Anura application is available free of charge on systems Android e iOS.
The app was released at MWC 2023, where NuraLogix told BRG that the platform should not be used to diagnose diseases, but is aimed at helping to raise user awareness and convince them to go to a medical appointment.
Anura can be used on several devices with a selfie camera, as long as the environment is properly lit.
The user must position their head within the circle that appears on the screen and then remain there for 30 seconds until the scan is performed.
It uses Transdermal Optical Imaging (TOI) technology, which was developed by NuraLogix, and is a new form of remote photoplethysmography (rPPG).
To make the explanation simpler, the app is capable of reflecting light in several key areas of the user's face to obtain information through their blood flow.
Then, this collected data is sent to the cloud, and artificial intelligence can analyze the scan, bringing the results.
The data that was extracted must not be stored on NuraLogix servers.
They are deleted immediately after the report is created.
But, through the app, it is still possible to check the user's scanning history.
Its artificial intelligence, which verifies the data, was trained with data from more than 40 thousand patients who have different health conditions.
It technology NuraLogix's research has been cited in 10 peer-reviewed research publications, with three more in progress. The company also holds 13 patents in the EUA.
Anura can assess whether the user is prone to developing some chronic conditions, such as mental health, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and hypertension.
Apps can know if HbA1c is greater than 5,7% and if fasting blood glucose is greater than 5,5mmol/L.
As for blood pressure measurements, the app presents an accuracy that corresponds to a standard deviation of error of less than 8mmHg.
How to use the app?
Although this technology is interesting, it is important to emphasize again that the app should not be used for diagnosis, but to test health conditions.
The company has been working to obtain the necessary approvals that will allow the app to be sold for medical use and to be implemented in other products.
It has also been working in partnership with other companies that aim to provide the service to their employees.
Anura can and should be combined with smart devices that can monitor health.
Or also to help convince the user to go to the doctor earlier than they normally would.
