PIS/Pasep is the unification of funds PIS (Social Integration Program) and Pasep (Public Servant Assets Formation Program), previously separated.
Nowadays, the amount collected by PIS/Pasep is stored by the FAT (Worker Support Fund), the body that manages the social benefits of Unemployment Insurance and Salary Allowance.
On September 11, 1975, through Complementary Law No. 26, the unification of PIS and Pasep took place, which is currently managed by Decree No. 4.751 of June 17, 2003.
Until 04/10/1988, employers made contributions through PIS/Pasep, which were distributed to employees in quotas proportional to salary and length of service.
After 1988, PIS/Pasep stopped receiving individual contributions, changing the destination of contributions by art. 239 of the Federal Constitution.
