Images captured by satellites
Previously, artificial satellites were launched and used solely for military purposes, which obtained important information for their tasks, such as navigation and espionage.
In August 1959, the first image of the moon was captured by a satellite, Luna 3, which belonged to the now defunct Soviet Union. Before this innovative period, images captured were taken through sub-orbital flights.
These images, to be viewed, needed to be revealed, which required them to return to Earth for this, as they were made using analog machines.
