What is PIS/Pasep?
The PIS/Pasep Fund, unified in 1975 by Complementary Law No. 26, aims to raise resources to contribute to the well-being of salaried workers in the public or private sector.
Although PIS/Pasep kept the same name, the amount collected is currently stored in the FAT (Worker Support Fund), the body responsible for managing social benefits relating to Unemployment Insurance and Salary Allowance.
In summary, we have:
PIS
The Social Integration Program (PIS) was created by Complementary Law No. 7/1970. The program, when it was created, integrated private sector employees with company development.
Through the PIS benefit, workers in private sector companies receive certain benefits and contribute to the development of companies in this sector.
Payment of PIS is the responsibility of the CEF.
PASSEP
In the same year, together with PIS, the Public Servant Assets Training Program was created, through nº 8/1970.
At the time of its creation, the Union, States, Municipalities, Federal District and territories contributed to the fund destined for public sector workers (public workers).
PASEP payment is the responsibility of the Bank of Brazil.?
Who is entitled to receive PIS/Pasep 2022?
Brazilian workers who are salaried, belonging to the public or private sector, are entitled to receive the PIS/Pasep benefit in 2022.
The following requirements are:
- Be registered for at least 5 years;
- Have a work contract for at least 30 days in the base year (for 2022 the base year is 2020);
- Have received an average of up to 2 minimum wages during this period.
