Earthquake in the city of Congonhas leaves the population afraid of the dam breaking

On Monday night (25), residents of the municipality of Congonhas, Minas Gerais, were scared after feeling the earth scratch. According to Sergeant Roberto Silva, there were several calls to the firefighters, but so far nothing dramatic has been recorded.

Witnesses said that around 20:30 pm the tremor began, causing many to leave their homes in fear that the worst would happen. Authorities confirmed the tremor and said that it was intended in several parts of the city, but so far no one knows what the attack was.

As the municipality of Congonhas is home to the Casa de Pedra dam, residents in danger areas were afraid of a new fatality, just like what happened in Brumadinho.

Compdec – Municipal Coordination of Protection and Civil Intervention, informed that it will contact CSN Garimpo, Gerdau and similarly Vale to confirm whether any disruption occurred at that time, with the aim of finding what may have caused the tremor in the municipality. .

Firefighters' assistance reported that there were no victims or material devastation, but individuals were scared for fear of a possible damage to the dam. CSN released a statement to the UOL portal informing that this tremor in Congonhas “did not cause any anomaly in the dam structure”.

Also according to the company, the audit teams are paying attention and auditing the situation. Many residents know that they will not sleep peacefully tonight, some even need to stay awake to avoid being surprised in the event of a fatality.

It is worth highlighting that the Casa de Pedra dam is 5 times larger than the Brumadinho dam, that is, the collapse would be much greater, and individuals who are aware of this know that they are right when they say that the danger is great.
